A storm moving across the Gulf of Mexico will move across Florida late Friday and Friday night. Eventually that storm will end up off the northern Florida Coast and will intensify, producing winds over 40 mph and locally heavy rains along the northern Florida coast all the way through coastal North Carolina this weekend. The thunderstorms that move across Florida may become severe Friday afternoon into the night. There is the chance for a tornado across southern Florida where the shear will be the greatest. Storms in general will produce strong winds, heavy rains and perhaps hail.
