Hurricane Helene Update: 9/26/24

Hurricane Helene is set to male landfall near Apalachicola Florida in the next few hours at close to or at Category 4 strength. Helene became a very strong and powerful hurricane over the last 36 hours or so, from entering the warm waters of the Gulf and limited shear to break up her rotation. With Helene the greatest impact will be the storm surge, high winds, and heavy flooding. Associated with Helene will also be the chance for tornadoes in Florida, Georgia and up the coast.

The above pictures show the wind gusts as Hurricane Helene makes landfall, and still packs a punch throughout Georgia, the Carolinas, and Tennessee Valley.
