Weekly Highlights September 29th to October 5th

This week we are still dealing with the remains of Helene, as she makes her way through the Ohio Valley and into the Virginia and DC area. By mid-week she will make her way out into the Atlantic. Those areas will see rain and thunderstorms, with the potential for some of those storms to be severe. Along with the rain there will be a potential for flooding for the Virginias and the DC area.

Our next tropical system could be a named storm this week and will affect the Southeast. Although the models aren’t really showing anything to really form, we will have to keep an eye out in the Gulf to see if anything comes from it. Louisiana, Georgia, and Florida will see some heavy rain and storms to end the week. Some of those storms have the potential to be severe. There could be some flooding to areas which have been hammered by rain and Hurricane Helene in recent weeks, and with these systems a tornado is not out of the question.

The Pacific NW will see a storm roll in that will bring rain to the area as well as snow in some parts, especially at elevation. As we get closer to winter the northern part of Minnesota this week could see a day of frost in the area, as cooler air will come down from Canada.

The West remains nice, warm, and dry. The wildfires are slowly being contained, especially in the NW with all the rain they have been getting. The Plains this week will see some higher temps return and well as in Texas.
