We don’t talk about the weather in Alaska often, but there is a powerful mid-lattitude Low that will impact the state for the next 24 hours. The storm is coming off the Bering Sea and will impact the Alaskan Peninsula with strong winds, high tides, and rain. Most of the Aleutians, which is the island chain on the SW tip of Alaska, will be impacted. Most of the Alaskan coast is under a storm warning until tomorrow night due to the high winds and tides. Winds are expected to be 50-60 mph with gusts reaching almost 80mph. The storm surge in the area over the next few hours will surge over 15-20ft. Below you can see the expected surge numbers and warnings from the National Weather Service out of Anchorage.
