Weekly Highlights December 1st to 7th

This week starts a new month with the same weather pattern we will continue to see. Cold, cold air coming down from Canada and impacting the Great Lakes, Midwest, and the Northeast. With the cold air coming down we will also see a few days of snow.

On Sunday, a clipper will come down from the North into the Great Lakes and the Northeast with accumulations of 1-4’’. The same area will see another round of snow on Wednesday and Saturday, with accumulations of 1-4”. With the snow will come some gusty wind, which will make for dangerous travel conditions, and brutally cold weather. Some areas with the clipper and lake effect snow could see well over 2 feet of snow. Lake effect snow from Cleveland to Erie to Dunkirk, NY to Buffalo, have already seen around 24’’ of snow and potentially could see another 24’’ again by the end of the week. Should be interesting to watch the Buffalo Bills on Sunday Night Football, pictures and videos of the snow that’s already accumulated in the stadium are insane.

The UP of Michigan, the Western portion of Michigan, from Traverse City to the Grand Rapids area will also be impacted by the clippers coming in this week as well as the lake effect snow. Some of those areas could see over a foot of snow by the end of the week. Parts of Minnesota, Wisconsin, the Dakotas, and the Ohio Valley will also see rounds of snow with accumulations around 1-4’’. While parts of Tennessee, and the Chicagoland area will see a dusting this week.

On Wednesday, the Southeast part of Texas will see a chance for some storms to roll through. Those storms don’t look to be severe but will bring some gusty storms if anything. On Saturday, the Pacific NW will also see a band of showers roll through.

The warmth and sun continues to be even further South if you are looking for it. From Arizona to Texas all the way to Florida will see sun, and nice warm temps for December.
