This week we will enjoy some milder temps for most of the US. To start the week the Southeast will see some showers and thunderstorms today and Monday. The Florida panhandle could see over 3’’ of rain in 24 hours. Some localized flooding to the area is possible. Also, on Sunday into Monday, a clipper will come though upstate NY into Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine. Accumulations look to be around 1-4’’. The middle of the week looks mild for most of the US with some colder air trying to come down from Canada into the High Plains. Just as quickly as the cold air sneaks in, the warmer milder air returns. The Rockies will see some significant snowfall this week with a lot of the Rockies seeing over 4’’ of snow.
Thursday, the Southeast will see another round of rain and thunderstorms move into the area. Those storms don’t look to be severe, but will bring more rain to the area. On Friday into Saturday a system will come through the Plains and create some severe weather for parts of the Midwest, Mississippi and Tennessee Valley, as well as the Northern Great Lakes. With these storms you can expect some gusty winds and hail. A tornado isn’t out of the question, and we will have to watch this system later in the week as it develops. On the back end of this system for the High Plains, they will see some accumulating snow and possible blizzard conditions. Snowfall totals look to be around 1-4’’ with some areas seeing 4’’ +. Those totals could increase as we will have to see if the warm moist air will feed into the snow on the backend.
