Today we will see some showers and thunderstorms across the Mid-Atlantic states which will bring some heavy rains and some possible localized flooding. The Southwest will also see some showers and thunderstorms today, with some heavy downpours at times. Wildfire smoke still poor in the Pac NW and slightly improving across the eastern part of the US. The latest development in the tropics show that Potential Tropical Cyclone 9 which will be named Imelda eventually, looks to impact the coast of South and North Carolina. Then Hurricane Humberto will draw PTC 9 away from the US, which is called Fujiwhara Effect. The Fujiwhara Effect is rare and occurs when two nearby cyclonic vortices move around each other and close the distance between the circulations of their corresponding low-pressure areas.
