This morning, we are already seeing snow come through the Great Lakes. Lake-effect snow will impact areas along Lake Michigan today bringing some blustery conditions. Gusty winds along Lake Michigan will bring gusts over 30mph. Areas along the western portion of the lake look to see a coating to 1” while NW Indiana, the UP of Michigan, and Western Michigan could see over 4” of snow. A cold front will follow the snow through the Great Lakes into the Midwest today. This same system will also impact the Northeast and Ohio Valley later today and into tonight bringing rain and snow to the area. Areas in the interior portion of the Northeast will see the higher snow totals with 4-6” with areas getting a coating to 4”. Snow will make it down into the Appalachians bringing 1-4”. Showers in the Tennessee Valley today out ahead of a cold front coming into the area. The Southeast will also see some showers and thunderstorms come through the area today and into the overnight hours, as the cold will reach well into the Southeast by tomorrow.
