This morning, we are seeing showers moving across the Plains, Ohio Valley, and into portions of the Northeast. Additional showers and thunderstorms are ongoing across the lower Mississippi Valley. Today and into tonight, more storms are expected to develop across the southern Plains and extend into the lower Mississippi Valley and Gulf states. Some of these storms could become severe, bringing the potential for heavy rainfall, hail, and damaging winds. It will also be another windy day across much of the Northern Plains and parts of the Ohio Valley, where wind gusts could exceed 35 mph in some locations. Warmer temperatures are spreading across much of the United States today, although cooler conditions continue across portions of the Northeast and northern Great Lakes. Meanwhile, hot conditions are expected across southwestern Arizona into southern California, where temperatures could climb into the 100s.
