This morning, we are seeing showers and thunderstorms across the Mid-Atlantic and extending southward into the Gulf states. Some of these storms could become severe today, particularly across southern Alabama, Georgia, and into Florida. All severe weather hazards appear to be possible with these storms through the morning and into the early afternoon hours, and much of the region is already under a tornado watch. The rain looks to help the drought conditions impacting the Southeast today, still have to watch for some localized flooding in certain areas. Elsewhere, scattered showers are expected across portions of the Plains, while much of the remainder of the country will experience relatively quiet conditions. Windy weather is expected today across the Carolinas and throughout much of the Midwest into the Plains. Warmer temperatures are spreading across a large portion of the United States today, although cooler air continues to linger across the Great Lakes, Northeast, and Mid-Atlantic regions. In Denver, temperatures are expected to climb into the 60s and 70s, which should help accelerate the melting of the recent snowfall the area received.
