Daily Maps Tuesday April 21st, 2026

This morning, we are seeing storms continue to impact portions of northern California and Texas. In Texas, showers and thunderstorms are expected to persist through much of the day before gradually dissipating later this evening into the overnight hours. Some areas across central Texas could receive between 1 and 2 inches of rainfall. Out West, continued precipitation will bring snowfall to the higher elevations of the Sierra Nevada. Across the Midwest, showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop this afternoon and track eastward. While severe weather is not anticipated at this time, a few stronger cells could produce small hail and gusty winds. Temperatures are trending milder across much of the eastern United States, signaling a return to more seasonable conditions. However, portions of the Northeast will remain somewhat cooler as the week progresses.
